More Flash for microcontrollers
Microchip's new Flash microcontrollers are the first to break the 1Mbit memory barrier.
Microchip's new Flash microcontrollers are the first to break the 1Mbit memory barrier Intended for high-end applications, the PIC18F6620, PIC18F8620, PIC18F6720 and PIC18F8720 offer field self-programmability, larger memory, a higher pin count and the most feature-rich peripheral set the company has produced so far

Easy interfacing to faster microcontrollers
Microchip has added two new devices to its PIC16C92X family of 8bit one-time-programmable microcontrollers with integrated liquid-crystal display controller.
Designed using Microchip's advanced PEEC Flash process technology, these PICmicro devices eliminate the design limitations normally encountered with Flash microcontroller.
Programming times are optimised allowing a 1Mbit array to be fully erased and programmed in under 2s and an individual word in under 3ms.
The PIC18F6620 and PIC18F8620 feature 64Kbyte of Flash memory while the PIC18F6720 and PIC18F8720 feature 128Kbyte (1Mbit) of Flash.
All devices provide 1024byte of EEPROM data memory.
The PIC18F8620 and PIC18F8720 also have a linear address capability of 2Mbyte.
The devices support in-circuit serial programming and self-programming over the entire operating voltage range allowing users to program them in-circuit and in the field.
The feature-rich peripheral set includes an analogue-to-digital convertor with up to 16 channels at 10bit resolution, five capture/compare/PWM modules, up to 10MIPS performance at 40MHz, two 8bit timers and three 16bit timers, dual analogue comparators and a parallel slave port.
Additional features include an operating voltage range of 2.0-5.5V, programmable brown-out detection/reset, a watch-dog timer, programmable 16-level low voltage detection module, 32kHz secondary oscillator clock input and a 4x phase lock loop.
Serial I/O features include SPI, I2C and two addressable USART modules supporting RS485 and RS232.
