Frugal performance from LDO
Microchip's new MCP1700 low-dropout regulator offers very low operating current, delivering up to 250mA of output current, while consuming only 1.6uA of quiescent current.
Microchip's new MCP1700 low-dropout regulator offers very low operating current, delivering up to 250mA of output current, while consuming only 1.6uA of quiescent current The dropout voltage for this device is as low as 178mV at 250mA
It features an output voltage accuracy of +/-0.4% (typical at 25C), a line regulation of +/-0.75%/V, and a load regulation of +/-1.0%/V.
In addition, the device offers overcurrent limiting and overtemperature shutdown, and is available in three-pin SOT23, SOT89-3 and TO92 packages.
Standard output voltage options are 1.2, 1.8, 2.5, 3.0, 3.3 and 5.0V.
This LDO enables the use of low-cost ceramic capacitors on the input and output, reducing system cost.
It is stable with a 1uF ceramic output capacitor, and can also make use of tantalum and aluminium electrolytic capacitors.
The MCP1700 is ideal for virtually any portable or battery-powered application.
