Design centre opens in Bucharest
A new dentre centre was inaugurated on 17th April in Bucharest, Romania by Microchip's Chief Executive Officer, Steve Sanghi.
Microchip Technology has opened a new design centre in Bucharest, Romania The new centre was inaugurated on 17th April 2007 by Microchip's Chief Executive Officer, Steve Sanghi, and Microchip has initially recruited 15 staffers, with a total of 30 jobs planned by the end of 2008 and 100 over the next four years

Microchip has added two new devices to its PIC16C92X family of 8bit one-time-programmable microcontrollers with integrated liquid-crystal display controller.
The new centre forms part of Microchip's worldwide network of design centres located in India, Switzerland, California and Arizona (USA).
It will play a pivotal role in enhancing Microchip's existing product portfolio, and in developing technologies that continue to set new benchmarks for price, performance and ease of integration.
"Bucharest was chosen as the location for Microchip's newest design centre because it takes us closer to our customers who are increasingly turning to Eastern Europe for design and manufacture".
"It is only by working closely with our customers that we can understand the challenges they face and ensure that we are developing the right products for them", explained Rich Simoncic, Vice President of Microchip's Analog and Interface Products Division.
Ranked number one in the world for sales of 8bit microcontrollers, Microchip has continued to extend the reach of its 8bit architecture by optimising versions for vertical markets, as well as developing new 16bit microcontrollers and dsPIC digital signal controllers (DSCs).
Variants of 8bit PIC microcontrollers have been developed specifically for applications such as automotive, motor control and power supply as well as security and authentication systems.
Microchip's product range also includes analogue and interface products, which focus on power and thermal management, as well as one of the industry's broadest ranges of EEPROM products for embedded applications.
The analogue range includes a large family of operational amplifiers and comparators, alongside Microchip's programmable gain amplifiers (PGAs); power management and conversion devices; thermal measurement and management devices; mixed signal products and interface devices.
