Operational amplifiers complement Extreme MCUs

A Microchip Technology product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Jul 29, 2010

Microchip has introduced a range of operational amplifiers suitable for a variety of consumer, industrial, automotive and medical applications.

The MCP6401/2/4 operational amplifiers expand the company's general-purpose operational amplifier portfolio by providing lower power consumption in small packages.

Featuring quiescent current of just 45mA with a gain bandwidth product (GBWP) of 1MHz, the MCP6401/2/4 operational amplifiers complement Microchip's Extreme low-power PIC microcontrollers (MCUs), helping to extend battery life in a variety of applications, including music players, appliances and gaming consoles in the consumer sector; industrial barcode scanners and gas meters; automotive signal conditioning for proximity and tyre-pressure measurement sensors; and glucometers and portable patient-monitoring devices in the medical sector.

Additional features include a maximum offset voltage of +/-4.5mV and a supply-voltage range of 1.8V to 6V over the extended temperature range of -40C to +125C.

The operational amplifiers are unity-gain stable and feature rail-to-rail input and output operation for enhanced performance across the entire voltage range.

The MCP6401/1U/1R is available in five-pin SC-70 or SOT-23 packages, while the MCP6402 is offered in eight-pin SOIC or 2 x 3mm TDFN packages and the MCP6404 is available in 14-pin SOIC or TSSOP packages.
