The latest Hitachi monochrome display modules are 5.7in high-contrast quarter-VGA units with a wide operating temperature range and a choice of long-life CFL or high-brightness white LED backlights.

The latest Hitachi monochrome display modules from Arrow are 5.7in high-contrast quarter-VGA units that offer a wide operating temperature range and a choice of long-life CFL or high-brightness white LED backlights Providing 320 x 240 pixel resolution, the SP14Q005, SP14Q006 and SP14Q006-T monochrome display modules incorporate the latest enhancements in film STN technology to deliver a high contrast "black on white" display image

A wide temperature range liquid crystal fluid has been used to provide an operating temperature range of -20 to +70C.

The SP14Q005 is a transmissive type unit featuring a long life CFL backlight that provides a half-brightness lifetime of 50kh and an exceptional brightness level of 220cd/m2.

The transmissive SP14Q006 provides excellent optical performance in indoor or low ambient light environments, and the transflective SP14Q006-T is a sunlight-readable display targeted at outdoor applications.

Both the SP14Q006 and SP14Q006-T incorporate a low-power, white LED backlight providing a brightness of 150cd/m2.

While providing significant improvement in contrast, all the new display modules offer full mechanical and electrical compatibility with Hitachi's existing monochrome quarter-VGA SP14Q00x family.

The modules have been designed to provide a cost effective display solution for a wide range of applications including EPOS systems, process control, instrumentation, information terminals and man-machine interfaces.

To assist engineers that are implementing complex man-machine interfaces, Arrow is also offering Hitachi's SP14Q005-ZZA, SP14Q006-ZZA and SP14Q006-TZA display units, which add a four-wire analogue resistive touchscreen to the display module.
