Arrow Electronics has increased the capacity of its ISO9000-compliant device programming facility.

Arrow Electronics has announced that its ISO9000-compliant European programming facility has had a threefold increase in throughput since 2003 The company has also confirmed that the UK-based facility, which provides device programming, laser marking and tape-and-reel services for European customers, has seen recent quarter-on-quarter throughput growth in excess of 50%

The centre is now handling seven million devices a year and, to support the growth in customer requirements, Arrow recently added an extra work shift.

As a result, the centre operates for 24 hours a day, five days a week.

Commenting on the significant growth of the centre, Mike Heljula, Arrow's Programming Centre Manager, states: "The programming centre offers key value added services for our customers across Europe, and more and more of these customers are outsourcing their programming, marking and tape-and-reel requirements to us".

"Offering these services as an in-house operation clearly differentiates Arrow from its competitors in the sales of programmable devices".

"Through ongoing investment in equipment and resources we have been able to address these increased demands while ensuring we have enough spare capacity to handle additional throughputs of up to 100,000 devices per week".
