Designed, developed and manufactured at the European headquarters of Artesyn's Power Group, in Youghal, Co.
Cork, the SXA10 series marked the company's entry into the surface-mountable converter market.
Launched 18 months ago following a particularly extensive R and D programme, this range of innovative 10W open-frame converters is specifically designed for use by high-volume manufacturers using standard pick-and-place equipment on automated assembly lines.
The converters are already proving extremely popular with designers of distributed power systems, especially for telecommunications applications.
Artesyn has recently further widened the field of choice in this fast-growing market sector with the introduction of a range of 15W surface-mountable DC/DC converters.
According to Joe O'Callaghan, Manager of Design Engineering at Artesyn Technologies' facility in Youghal, "We are gratified to have won a National Innovation Award for the SXA10 - a design which ushers in a new level of performance for surface-mountable DC/DC converters.
The market for these types of products is growing very quickly due to manufacturers' demands for components and sub-systems that suit automated placement, and Artesyn is exceptionally well-placed to take maximum advantage of this business opportunity.".
