Artesyn Technologies has launched a new series of 15W surface-mountable isolated DC/DC converters Known as the SXA15 series, the converters are designed specifically for high-volume manufacturing lines using standard pick-and-place equipment, and are supplied in JEDEC standard trays for handling simplicity and speed of loading

High-efficiency, open-frame, DC/DC converters provide two independent, fully regulated, positive outputs
The converters feature very accurate output regulation and rapid dynamic response, making them ideal for applications involving fast transient power demands.
Typically, these include telecommunications, networking, mobile, industrial and other distributed power applications.
Housed in a rugged open-frame package with an industry-standard 2.0 x 1 inch footprint, SXA15 series converters weigh just 14g - which is significantly lighter than comparable encapsulated models.
There are initially three models in the series, offering output voltages of 12V, 5V and 3.3V, each with a 24V (18V-36V) input range.
All three models offer an output voltage trim facility to facilitate design integration: the 12V and 5V converters can be adjusted between 90% and 110% of nominal output, and the 3.3V converter has an even wider output range of 68% to 110% of nominal, enabling users to trim down to 2.25V.
This wide output trim capability provides system designers with an important advantage, by allowing them to adopt a power solution that is compatible with the low-voltage silicon of next-generation communications and network servers.
All SXA15 series converters offer remote on/off facilities, and are comprehensively protected against short-circuit conditions.
If desired, the converters can be connected in series or parallel, and system designers do not have to concern themselves about current distribution, because the converters are guaranteed to operate indefinitely in an over-current condition.
The converters' open-frame construction simplifies thermal management, and allows operation in a wide ambient temperature range of -40 to +70sC with natural convection and no de-rating.
SXA15 series converters carry a full set of international safety approvals, including EN60950 and UL1950.
