Low-profile 150W AC/DC PSU fits on 1U shelf

Artesyn Technologies has launched a compact 150W power-factor-corrected AC/DC open-frame power supply, available with up to four outputs.

The new NLP150L has a small 3.8 x 7.8in footprint and a height of just 1.26in, enabling it to fit easily on a 1U high shelf.

The unit is power factor corrected to meet the forthcoming EN61000-3-2 standard, and is available with one to four outputs.

The multiple output versions feature two high current, low-voltage channels that support current sharing, and are specifically designed for powering next-generation networking equipment with a heavy logic content, such as access concentrators and shared media hubs.

The NLP150L series offers a choice of multiple output versions to help support the industry transition from 5 to 3.3V logic.

This provides designers with considerable flexibility when implementing logic circuitry that demands different operating voltages, and also offers them an elegant migration path for future designs.

One multiple output model provides 5.1V/20A and 3.3V/10A outputs with free air convection cooling, which can be up-rated to 30 and 15A, respectively, when cooled by 300LFM forced air; it also provides a 12V/2A auxiliary output for functions such as fan supply, and an isolated 12V/0.65A output for use with signal conditioning circuitry.

The other multiple output model offers 12V/9.2A and 5.1V/6A outputs - which can be up-rated to 12.5A and 8A respectively by use of forced air cooling - and a 24V/2A output.

Single output 5.1 and 3.3V models are also available; each of these provides 22A, and can be uprated to 30A with forced air cooling.

All NLP150L series power supplies have a 90-264V AC universal input range, and accommodate mains frequencies from 47 to 63Hz, making them suitable for use anywhere in the world.

The power supplies have a high conversion efficiency - typically 73% - and with a 110W loading will continue to supply power for at least 20ms in the event of AC supply failure; a power fail detection facility is provided as standard.

The supplies' main low voltage channels offer tight regulation of +/-2.0% and a maximum ripple of 50mV peak-to-peak, and are fully protected against short circuit and over-voltage conditions.

The low voltage channels also have a fast transient response, making them ideal for applications with dynamic load conditions, deviating to a maximum of 5% and recovering to 1% within 1ms for a 0.1A/us step change in load current from 75 to 100%.

Artesyn's NLP150L series power supplies fully comply with the rigorous EN55022-B conducted noise and EN55022-A radiated noise standards, and meet all applicable immunity standards, including EN61000-4-2, -3, -4, -5 and -6.

The power supplies also carry comprehensive UL, CSA and VDE safety approvals, and are CE-marked in accordance with the Low Voltage Directive.

The new NLP150L power supplies are the latest additions to Artesyn's growing range of low voltage AC/DC switch mode power supplies for networking applications.

The NLP series now includes 70, 110 and 150W models, all of which feature active power factor correction, low noise emissions and low profile packaging.
