Artesyn Technologies' Power Group has won full certification for the environmental management system at its European headquarters in Youghal, Co Cork.

Following a comprehensive compliance assessment by the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI), the company has been granted 'Registered Firm' status under the international EN ISO 14001 standard.

The certification covers all of Artesyn's business activities in Youghal - which includes two power supply manufacturing and assembly facilities - and is a considerable accolade for the company, which is already approved to the ISO 9000 quality standard.

According to John Cahill, Operations Manager at Artesyn's Youghal facility, "Gaining ISO 14001 certification is undoubtedly good PR for the company, enabling us to demonstrate to employees, customers and shareholders that we take environmental issues seriously.

But it actually goes much deeper than that, by further committing the company to good business practices.

We now have a comprehensive environmental policy which enables us to make best use of our resources, and look set to achieve significant cost-savings through the prevention, minimisation, reuse and recycling of waste materials".
