The company has also taken the opportunity to launch a powerful new web-based parametric search tool, which enables users to locate the ideal AC/DC power supply or DC/DC convertor for their particular application very quickly.

The search tool makes extensive use of context-sensitive drop-down menus, which help prevent user error by dispensing with the need for typing, and accelerate criteria selection.

Users can chose to view a selection of suitable power sources, displayed in 'product tree' form, or they can narrow their search field by specifying a wide range of operational parameters, including output power, input/output voltages, number of outputs, form factor and physical height.

The search tool looks across Artesyn's entire range of standard AC/DC power supplies and DC/DC convertors, all of which are available 'off-the-shelf' or with very short lead times.

Products include 87 high-efficiency switch-mode AC/DC power supplies in the 15 to 150W power range, 220 isolated DC/DC convertors with outputs from 2 to 264W, and a series of nonisolated point-of-load convertors.

Every one of these products is supported by comprehensive technical data - having located the specific power conversion unit that they require, users can download PDF format short- and long-form datasheets and application notes at the click of a mouse.

Typically, the complete search process, from specifying requirements through to viewing suitable products, takes less than 20s.

According to Joe O'Callaghan, VP of DC/DC Engineering for Artesyn Technologies, "Our standard product range is expanding rapidly, due to an aggressive R and D programme.

In the DC/DC sector, for example, we've brought 17 new open-frame products to market within the last few months.
