Burns brings technology to Artesyn
Artesyn Technologies has appointed of William "Trey" Burns as Vice President of Technology for the company's Power Conversion group.
Artesyn Technologies has appointed of William "Trey" Burns as Vice President of Technology for the company's Power Conversion group.
In his new role, Dr Burns will be responsible for defining and leading Artesyn's next generation technology strategy.
With over 20 years of engineering experience in the power industry, Dr Burns brings a substantial technology industry background to Artesyn.
Before joining the company, he held a variety of technical and senior management positions with Bell Telephone Laboratories, Digital Equipment, Data General and most recently Emerson/Liebert and SynQor Corporation.
"Artesyn is a recognised leader in the power industry for advanced product development and Trey's appointment will help us continue to push the envelope in the future", commented Ken Blake, Artesyn's President of Marketing and Product Development.
"His experience in managing high performance engineering functions and evaluating technology trends will allow us to maximise our research investments and better serve the future needs of our customers".
Dr Burns holds a bachelors degree from Harvard University and received a PhD in electrical engineering from Duke University.
He has published numerous articles on power convertor technology and is a past president of the Power Electronics Council of the IEEE.
In addition, he holds a patent for a state-space control methodology for DC/DC convertors.
