Pan-European network supports PSU design
Artesyn Technologies has established a new pan-European network of technical sales representatives.
Artesyn Technologies has established a new pan-European network of technical sales representatives, to provide customers with local access to personnel trained in the specialist field of power supply selection and provision This change to the company's European sales structure - which was previously based solely on distributors - follows an extensive review of its supply chain management processes, and mirrors the highly successful sales structure that it already employs in North America

To date, Artesyn has signed exclusive agreements with five of Europe's leading electronics marketing and sales organisations, which between them cover the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain and Portugal, as well as all Benelux and Scandinavian countries.
The company plans to extend its network of sales representatives to cover all European countries by the end of 2002.
Artesyn is retaining many of its existing distributors in Europe, but by augmenting their services with company-trained sales representatives it confidently expects to get closer to potential customers, leading to greater market awareness of Artesyn's capabilities and products.

All the companies Artesyn has appointed are renowned representatives of manufacturers of semiconductors and associated electronic components.
According to Hugh Wratten, European Distribution Sales Manager for Artesyn Technologies' Power Group, "There is a natural synergy between semiconductor and power supply sales, and we believe that our new sales structure will help capitalise on this, to everyone's advantage.
In fact, we have selected sales representatives that have a similar organisational structure to our own, geared to providing fast-response, technically competent service.
The franchises that they already hold are entirely complementary to Artesyn's product lines, which means that customers will be able to gain virtually independent, unbiased technical advice about appropriate power sources for their designs".
Artesyn's new European sales network handles both AC/DC and DC/DC product lines.
It is likely to prove especially popular with electronics designers seeking the most appropriate DC/DC and point-of-load (POL) convertors for their applications, since this particular area of design is becoming increasing difficult in the light of the high-current, low-voltage demands of latest-generation semiconductor technology.
By being able to speak to people with specialist knowledge of power conversion technology - in the language of their choice - designers will be able to resolve power issues earlier in the design cycle, thereby avoiding the type of last-minute problems that can affect product profitability or launch dates.
