Astec Power has added new output power ratings to its versatile MP modular power supply series.

Astec Power has added new output power ratings to its versatile MP modular power supply series The existing four MP models can now deliver an additional 200W of output power at high line voltage when compared with their universal voltage ratings

Now customers who do not require low line voltage can gain 20 to 50% more power in the same package at the same price.

The modular MP power supply line includes four strategically sized chassis, each of which incorporates a power factor corrected (PFC) front-end.

These chassis enable the installed MP output modules to deliver maximum power levels of 600, 800, 1000 and 1200W to their designated loads when operated at high line.

Each chassis can be configured with almost any combination of more than 25 commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) output modules to provide a wide variety of output voltage combinations from 2 to 60V with output current capacities from 0.5 to 120A.

Depending on the model, each chassis can accommodate as many as five to seven output modules for maximum versatility.

This flexibility and ready availability of modules makes the product well suited for an extensive range of applications from computing, networking, office systems and data communications to medical, industrial process control, testing and instrumentation.

The well-established MP Series enjoy a reliability record of more than 5kh of mean time between failures (MTBF).

The new high line rated MPs also incorporate key features available in the universal input configurations.

These include current sharing on outputs from 10A, remote sense on outputs from 2A, overload protection, voltage adjustment, active inrush current limiting, power factor correction (typically better than 0.98, which meets EN61000-3-2 requirements for input current harmonic content), input OK and global DC OK status signals and indicator LEDs, along with global inhibit/optional enable control inputs.

For added flexibility the MP Series has been approved for use with either a built-in, field-replaceable DC fan or customer-provided cooling for alternative configurations where cooling is already included elsewhere in the design.

The new MP Series meets worldwide performance and safety standards including those from UL, CSA, CE, IEC, VDE and CB.

They also meet all industry-standard conducted noise and immunity performance requirements.
