Ideally suited for communications, industrial, non-patient-connected medical equipment and ground base military applications, the devices are especially appropriate for compact enclosed systems and outdoor environments.
Beyond the significant advances in power density, the new AIH-300Vin Series offers embedded functions that will provide additional benefits to end users.
The new convertors provide an extensive set of "embedded" functions that include monitoring, protection, and adjustment capabilities as well as a communications bus that can store valuable end-user information that eliminates the need for designers to create these features externally on the circuit board.
This flexibility frees up board space and allows for future increases the density of the design.
The new AIH-300Vin Series can be operated over a wide baseplate temperature range from -40 to +100C while reaching 88% efficiency at 5V output.
Key embedded functions include: current sharing, enable (positive and negative option), output voltage adjust, clock-in (for synchronisation in parallel application), temperature monitoring and output current monitoring.
With increasing needs for storing and communicating significant end-user information, the devices also include an I2C Interface to an internal EEPROM for data storage.
In addition to these monitoring and control functions, the new AIH-300Vin Series offers a number of reliability safeguards such as overtemperature, overvoltage and overcurrent protections.
Designed with state-of-the-art components, the AIH-300Vin Series employs a fully surface-mount design that simplifies manufacturing while enhancing quality and reliability.
As with all Astec DC/DC products, the AIH-300Vin Series meets international performance and safety standards including those from UL, cUL, TUV and CE.
Priced from $115.00 each in OEM quantities, the 1.8, 3.3 and 5V output models are available now, and the 12, 15 and 24V output models will be available in July 2005.
