Artimi has elected Jon Castor, a Silicon Valley veteran and independent director, as Chairman of its Board of Directors Giuseppe Zocco, a General Partner with Index Ventures, who had been Chairman, will continue on the board in a new role as Vice Chairman

"I am very pleased that Jon has agreed to succeed me as Chairman", says Zocco.

"He understands the company well and has been a tremendous asset to the business".

"Artimi recently raised a large funding round to support volume production, so this is an ideal time for the company to benefit from Jon's leadership and extensive network in the consumer electronics industry".

Castor has served as an Artimi director since June 2005, and brings more than 25 years of electronics industry experience to his role as chair.

Adds Castor: "With the highest performing MAC in the industry, Artimi is poised to enable major advances in portable consumer electronics".

"With the Artimi A-150 MAC and a UWB radio, digital cameras, cellphones, media players and laptops can communicate with each other over ultrafast wireless peer-to-peer personal area networks".

"The entire Artimi board looks forward to continuing our work with the Artimi team, customers and partners, to realise this potential, as we go to market with the A-150 and further expand product development".

"Artimi will benefit from Jon's wealth of experience in the consumer IC business", notes Colin Macnab, CEO of Artimi.

"His move to chairman will help us reach the ambitious objectives we have set for the company in 2007 and beyond".

"I would also like to thank Giuseppe for his leadership".

"We are all pleased that he will still be closely involved in the company".

Castor cofounded and became CEO of TeraLogic, a world leader in HDTV SoCs, and with his team, forged strategic alliances with consumer electronics giants, including Sony, Mitsubishi and Samsung.

Later he held executive management roles with Oak Technology and Zoran Corporation.

A member of the Fairchild team in the 1970s, Castor also had a corporate strategy consulting practice helping major corporations grow a number of successful new businesses.
