Vacuum reed switches handle high voltages

An Assemtech Europe product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Jan 22, 2007

HBS Series high-voltage reed switches are vacuum devices with tungsten contacts, enabling them to switch high voltages or high inductive current loads.

Available now from Assemtech Europe, HBS Series high-voltage reed switches are vacuum devices with tungsten contacts, enabling them to switch high voltages or high inductive current loads.

They feature low contact resistance, long operating life, high dielectric strength and isolation voltages of 7, 10 and 15kV DC.

The big advantage over other high voltage vacuum switches is the absence of the typical glass tip for evacuation of air.

This glass tip can break very easily if not handled with great care.

HBS Series devices can be used directly as switches or can be built into high-voltage relay devices.

Applications include high-voltage testers, cable testers, medical instrumentation and defibrillators, as well as industrial process control and power applications.
