Versatility is key to placement platform choice
Assembleon has supplied and installed two Gemline Topaz-XiII SF systems to Renishaw, allowing further flexibility and room for product development.
Placement platforms show off in Boston
Assembleon will feature two placement platforms at Nepcon East, 4th and 5th May 2005, in Boston, Massachusetts.
New features, in combination with the Topaz-X capability for placing flip chips, enables one machine to do a job which previously may have taken two.
In addition, the Topaz-X offers the option of extending the applications area for this powerful, multifunctional machine to include boards measuring up to 550 x 610mm (21.6 x 24in), for example for Internet servers, LCD televisions, mainframe computers and backplanes.
The existing Windows NT-based graphical user interface has been recognised as best in class.
Nevertheless, Assembleon has made further improvements in Release 2, making operation even simpler.
New operator functionality includes capability to optimise a production program while the machine is running.
Production programs can be edited during operation.
Extended help files give access to online references such as clear visualisation and descriptions of all functions, parameters and windows, as well as to an easy-to-use wizard for creating a board file.
Assembleon launched the Topaz-X in 2001 to bring flexibility and top-class performance to mid-volume manufacturing.
This Gem Series machine delivers the perfect balance between high-speed production and accuracy without compromising either.
It places up to 20,000 components per hour ranging from 0201s and CSPs to BGAs and large, fine-pitch QFPs up to 45mm2.
Its accuracy comes from innovative technology which maintains the machine within defined boundaries for continuous, precise operation round the clock.
Also enhanced, the Topaz-Xi version features intelligent tape feeders for commonality with Assembleon's FCM and ACM machines, enabling its capabilities to be exploited, in line with the FCM and ACM, in the very high-volume market.
Whether used stand-alone or inline with other Assembleon machines, Topaz-X/Topaz-Xi provides the operational flexibility to meet continuously changing production demands, while fast change-over times deliver superior cost per placement.
Existing Topaz-X /Topaz-Xi installations can be upgraded to Release 2 functionality.
