Lucent repeats gold award

Artesyn Communication Products has received a 2004 Golden Link Award from Lucent Technologies' Supply Chain Networks Group.

Artesyn Communication Products has received a 2004 Golden Link Award from Lucent Technologies' Supply Chain Networks Group.

This is the second straight year that Artesyn has received this prestigious award.

Lucent bestowed the honour on nine of its top suppliers in a recognition event held at Lucent's Murray Hill, New Jersey headquarters on 16th December 2004.

Artesyn is a leading provider of board-level subsystems and software for telecomms infrastructure applications.

Artesyn's products are used to provide network interfaces, control, signalling (SS7 and Sigtran), and packet/protocol processing for a broad range of systems, from wireless basestations, DSLAMs and optical long-haul equipment, to VoIP gateways and softswitches.

Lucent uses Artesyn's telecomms products in a number of infrastructure systems throughout the company.

Lucent's Mobility Solutions Group is currently using Artesyn's network and packet processing blades in its Flexent radio network controller.

Lucent's Mobility Solutions Group also is using Artesyn's application processing blades in its Flexent mobility server to support next-generation mobile data solutions.

Lucent's optical group is using Artesyn's controllers in its DWDM (dense wavelength division multiplexing) optical long-haul equipment.

Lucent's Supply Chain Networks (SCN) Group oversees the end-to-end provisioning of Lucent solutions to its global customer base.

SCN is responsible for the management and oversight of supplier and supply chain engineering and management, product engineering, test and component engineering, procurement, manufacturing, logistics and distribution, as well as the company's outsourcing and contract manufacturing efforts.

Members of Lucent's engineering and design, customer delivery, quality and Supply Chain Networks organisations nominate suppliers for these awards.

A committee, made up of Lucent employees, interviews supplier relationship managers and employees who work closely with the nominated suppliers, reviews the nominations and makes the final selections.

Golden Link suppliers are chosen based on critical factors important to helping Lucent meet the needs of its customers, including quality, timeliness of delivery, technology, innovation and overall value.
