Artesyn Communication Products has announced the availability of Wind River Systems' Platform for Network Equipment for Artesyn's KatanaQp AdvancedTCA telecomms blade.
Artesyn and Wind River will work together to develop Carrier Grade Linux and VxWorks board support packages (BSP) for Artesyn's telecomms blades, beginning with the PowerPC-based KatanaQp AdvancedTCA blade.
Wind River will provide validation services for the new BSPs.
Both companies will work together to market the new products.

Emerson Network Power Embedded Computing has announced the availability of MontaVista Carrier Grade Linux for its KatanaQp AdvancedTCA blades and PmPPC7448 ProcessorPMC modules.
Wind River Platform for Network Equipment, Linux edition is available with the latest mainstream releases of OSDL Carrier Grade Linux (version 2.0.1) and Linux 2.6, combines Wind River's Eclipse-based Wind River Workbench development suite with a rich set of networking middleware.
The platform makes it easy for telecomms OEMs to develop and deploy a complete range of network equipment applications, from core and enterprise to access and edge devices.

"Our high-availability AdvancedTCA blades, together with the Wind River Platform for Network Equipment, provide an ideal foundation for building a broad range of high-availability telecom infrastructure systems".

The KatanaQp is a high-performance ATCA telecomms blade that combines two PowerPC MPC7447A processors with four PTMC expansion sites, redundant IPMI-based system management interfaces, and a PICMG 3.1-compliant ATCA interface equipped with 10 Gigabit Ehernet channels.
The KatanaQp's high-speed PowerPC processors, switched fabric ATCA interface, flexible mezzanine expansion, and integrated system management make it easy to customise for a wide variety of control and packet processing applications, including WAN access, SS7/Sigtran signalling, media gateways, traffic processing, wireless basestations and softswitches.
