Integrated into an open standard CompactPCI chassis are an application processor board, multiple packet voice processor boards, a high availability operating system, and Motorola's industry-leading FACT-MG gateway development software, which features full resource management.
The ComStruct IGP1000 also includes example applications to allow customers to evaluate voice quality and stability, investigate technology such as SIP or simulate larger installations.
"The convergence of traditional voice and data networks will continue to drive a significant market need for products like packet telephony gateways for the foreseeable future", said Norm Bogen, director of WAN infrastructure and services for Cahners In-Stat Group.
"With reduced budgets and limited internal resources, equipment manufacturers will need to carefully analyse how they can best take advantage of open technologies while still delivering a differentiated end-product.

"Customers have been asking us to enable them to focus their increasingly scarce engineering resources on developing their core applications and move away from integration work - effectively outsourcing their projects at a much higher level.
The ComStruct IGP series is the answer".
Built around a common platform and software architecture, the ComStruct IGP series is designed to maximise flexibility and scalability allowing OEMs to easily migrate their applications from development through prototype to deployment.
Other models in the ComStruct IGP series will build on Motorola's extensive product range, including the award winning MXP multiservice packet transport platform, in order to address the deployment of broadband access gateways, media service platforms, IP and ATM trunking gateways, core network switch replacement, and 3G wireless media gateways.
The ComStruct IGP1000 is expected to be available in May 2002 with a list price of $20,272.
Further products in the ComStruct IGP series are expected to be launched during 2002.
