The PrPMC610 is a low power processor PMC (PrPMC) module heralded as a cost effective way to provide up to 40% more processing power over the previous generation PrPMC600 module.

The PrPMC610 is a low power processor PMC (PrPMC) module heralded as a cost effective way to provide up to 40% more processing power over the previous generation PrPMC600 module.

Motorola has also increased the PCI bandwidth, added more onboard memory and enabled I/O directly to the carrier to make the PrPMC610 ideal for demanding control-processing tasks.

The PrPMC610 is a single-width PMC module powered by a PowerPC architecture processor, the MPC8245.

The processor is supported by up to 128Mbyte onboard ECC SDRAM with the option for an additional 256Mbyte memory expansion and 9Mbyte onboard Flash.

An optional front faceplate or rear Pn4 I/O, including 10/100BaseT Ethernet interface, complete the new features that help simplify the addition of new technology to a customer's equipment.

"Designing your system around PrPMC isolates the complexities of a high-speed CPU, cache and memory signals from application-specific hardware, enabling equipment manufacturers to focus on their market requirements while simplifying their product release", said Greg Novak, Product-Marketing Manager, Motorola Computer Group.

"The PrPMC610 is focused on simplifying the development, deployment and ongoing improvement of medical equipment and telecom control applications".

Motorola's extensive family of Processor PMC modular building blocks feature a complete host CPU and memory subsystem with on-board Ethernet and memory expansion on a VITA 32 standard compact form factor.

A PrPMC design approach allows customers to design simpler and smaller baseboards and focus their resources on adding value to their products through innovation such as software or custom interfaces.

Motorola's PrPMC products can help shorten the design cycle, speed time-to-market and reduce the time and complexity of upgrading, which lowers the total cost of ownership and provides excellent scalability.

The PrPMC610 is available now at a list price of $695.
