Motorola has named Interphase Corp as its preferred provider for I/O Advanced Mezzanine Cards.

Motorola has named Interphase Corp as its preferred provider for I/O Advanced Mezzanine Cards (AdvancedMCs) AdvancedMCs provide for great flexibility in customer configurations without incurring the costs of customisation and will be key components of Motorola's AdvancedTCA and MicroTCATM open communications servers

The relationship will help providers of applications such as radio network controllers, media gateways, signalling gateways and WiMAX infrastructure to deploy new revenue-generating services faster and more cost-efficiently by reducing the time and cost-intensive process of integration.

The agreement provides for incorporating a range of Interphase products into the roadmaps of the Embedded Communications Computing business of Motorola, alignment of future roadmaps and priorities, and joint planning and development of AdvancedMC solutions as well as joint sales and marketing.

"Working with Interphase will allow us to add crucial functionality to our communications servers by leveraging the expertise of a respected industry leader", said Wendy Vittori, Corporate Vice President and General Manager, Embedded Communications Computing, Motorola.

"Customers will benefit by improved time to market as we will pre-integrate and test the Interphase AdvancedMC I/O modules into Motorola's communications servers".

"Additionally, customers will be confident that they can easily purchase quality I/O products integrated within communications server solutions from Motorola".

As a strategic participant of Motorola's Communications Server Alliance, Interphase has been actively engaged with Motorola to set product priorities, architect joint solutions, and to ensure interoperability between Interphase I/O modules and Motorola ATCA- and MicroTCA-based communications servers.

"For the last eight years, we have worked closely with Motorola as joint customers have asked for solutions that combine our I/O modules with Motorola platforms", said Greg Kalush, President and CEO of Interphase.

"We are now entering into a more proactive stage in our relationship - a stage in which we will be specifically aligning our designs and roadmaps in advance of customer engagements".

"Thus, we will be able to provide TEMs with a tightly integrated architecture as well as significantly better time to market".

The first release of communications servers for early adopters with Interphase technology is expected in the second half of 2006.
