The hot-swappable KosaiPM gives telecomms OEMs an easy way to add processing power to AdvancedTCA or proprietary systems equipped with Advanced Mezzanine Card expansion bays.
The common platform supports the deployment of multiple applications, including wireless infrastructure, packetised voice, wireline data, and cable network head-end equipment.
Specifically designed to address the unique carrier-grade requirements of the telecommunications industry, the Avantellis 3406 is RoHS (5 of 6) compliant, thereby eliminating the need for customers to incur the time, resource and expense associated with creating and/or converting an existing product to meet the international requirement.
It also offers the ability to improve customer operating efficiencies by consolidating more of their product portfolio on to an open-standard based common platform.

"After listening closely to our customers' needs, we have delivered a deployment-ready product that immediately enables them to focus on differentiating product development, rather than spending resources on developing and testing their own carrier class platform and proprietary middleware", says John Fryer, Director of Technology Marketing, Embedded Communications Computing, Motorola.
"Today's announcement marks the introduction of a complete service availability platform for customers to use as a basis for their value added applications".
The Avantellis 3000 series of Communications Servers exploits the attributes of the Centellis 3000 series and includes OpenSAF (Open Service Availability Framework) Service Availability Forum (SA Forum) compliant middleware for 5NINES+ platform availability OpenSAF implements the SA Forum Application Interface Specification and Hardware Platform Interface Specification.
The Avantellis 3000 series platform is built on AdvancedTCA hardware with the Platform Control Software, which provides all the hardware/platform dependant software capability required to enable OpenSAF.
Motorola also validates blade interoperation, thermals, power, mechanicals and EMC compliance, enabling customers to begin application development immediately.
The first Avantellis 3406 systems are expected to be available for customer evaluations by mid-2007.
