Thermal sensor features faster response

An ATC Semitec product story

When Semitec came to develop a new surface-mount ring terminal sensor using its latest AP series NTC thermistor, the company wanted to improve on a couple of aspects of the existing all-plastic design.

By combining a stainless-steel base with a high-grade plastic moulding, the company achieved a 25% faster thermal response and an improved dielectric withstand - up to 1200V AC for 1s.

By using the new AP series thermistor, the new sensor is economically priced and is interchangeable to better than +/-0.5K from 0 to 70C.

The operating temperature range actually covers from -60 to +150C with a wide selection of R25 values from 2 to 200kohm.

The standard part has rigid leads at a 2.54mm pitch, but flexible leads complete with connectors can be supplied if preferred.

There is also a further version still in development with an operating temperature of up to 200C.
