A new universal device programmer is compatible with thousands of devices from 8-pin SOICs to 68-pin PLCCs via 64 independent pin drivers Larger pin count devices are supported via in-circuit programming

At launch the programmer supports all standard EPROM, EEPROM and Flash memory device families, plus 8051-core, PIC and USB microcontrollers, as well as standard PLD parts.

Extensive additions will to be made to the range of manufacturers and devicessupported in the next few months.

The AP-1164 has a USB interface for PC operation and can run in stand-alone mode using a SmartMedia memory card interface.

Atomic Programming's AP LiveUpdate service allows users to stay fully up to date with devices and operating software simply by registering the programmer after purchase.

Regular updates can be retrieved with the click of a button, with new drivers and updates integrated into the software without a fresh install.

Programming is achieved through a fully flexible graphical user interface (GUI).

Using the supplied skin assembler, the GUI can be user customised for development and production environments, or a corporate profile, and has a fully customisable menu text and messaging facility.

The software has universal language support, including Asian characters, and runs on Windows 9x, Me, 2000, NT and XP, with Linux O/S support through software scripts.

In addition, multiscript control allows the user to control the programmer remotely from a host application, and the project manager makes the unit ideal for production environments.

The programmer is CE- and UL-approved and operates from a universal power supply.

Dimensions are 330 x 145 x 50mm, and weight is 0.9kg.
