Mezzanine card secures sensitive data

An ACT/Technico product story

Secure storage subsystem provides an effective means to perform secure erasure or write-protection of sensitive data on a PMC form factor.

ACT/Technico now offers a secure storage solution that provides an effective means to perform secure erasure or write-protection of sensitive data on a PMC form factor.

The new Secure PMCStor is ideal for a wide range of commercial and military applications including ground mobile, shipboard, airborne and homeland security.

The Secure PMCStor provides a unique hardware-based implementation of two methods of data protection: secure-erase, with two levels of data purging; and write-protect, preventing data from being overwritten or modified.

It couples a PCI/ATA core with secure-erase and write-protect logic implemented via a FPGA.

The Secure PMCStor is a complete storage solution capable of operating in environments where extended shock and vibration conditions exist.

The Secure PMCStor features a hardware-initiated secure-erase with two erasure levels - destructive or nondestructive; a write-protect function enabled via an external signal or switch; and the provision for onboard BIOS supporting system boot directly from the storage device.

The new storage solution is available with one or both data security features, and is suitable for extended temperature in air- and conduction-cooled environments.

The air-cooled version ships with a front panel button or switch to initiate the secure features.

The Secure PMCStor is fully tested prior to shipment.

Storage capacities range from 2 to 16Gbyte.

Bootable device drivers are currently available for Linux and VxWorks with other operating systems available on request.

The Secure PMCStor can be packaged with many embedded board offerings, including ACT/Technico's extensive range of commercial and rugged Pentium and PowerPC single board computers, Ethernet switches and chassis solutions.
