VME blade shrinks network attached
storage
Dual SATA drives and an extended temperature range of -40 to +85C enables the VME RAIDStor to operate effectively in rugged environments.
The VME RAIDStor from ACT/Technico is a single-slot 6U network attached storage (NAS) blade that provides the same automatic, transparent data replication and resynchronisation of traditional box-level RAID storage modules in a more compact footprint With network access for up to 18 slots (up to 0.5Tbyte per slot) in a 19in chassis, the SATA-based VME RAIDStor is suitable for use throughout many industries in a number of high availability, data intensive applications including message processing, network-centric military environments, redundant self-hosted web servers or storage repositories as well as transaction processing and logging

Disk modules mix and match CompactPCI storage
A novel 6U single-slot disk module provides a range of storage options for CompactPCI based systems.
The blade can be configured in a single-star topology where the VME RAIDStor is connected to one network, or in dual-star where two networks are present, providing completely redundant network paths as well as port failover services enabled or disabled with a single command for continuous system availability.
The VME RAIDStor, which comes in either conduction- or convection-cooled versions, is configurable to RAID level 0 (data stripping) for increased capacity performance as well as RAID level 1 (data mirroring) for data redundancy and availability.
Dual PMC-mounted solid state flash SATA drives and an extended temperature range of -40 to +85C enables the VME RAIDStor to operate effectively in rugged environments.
Users can manage the blade as an appliance or via an SNMP through a password-protected Web browser interface with event notifications sent by e-mail.
Each RAIDStor is equipped with one front panel Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 port and two ports via the P0 connector to enable connections to different networks.
A 1GHz Freescale processor provides 512Mbyte of DDR-ECC memory, 64Mbyte of NOR-based Flash memory and 128Kbyte of SRAM.
Pricing for the VME RAIDStor starts at US $6500 for air-cooled with rotating drives.
Delivery is six to eight weeks ARO.
