Austriamicrosystems launches AS1343 converter

An austriamicrosystems product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Sep 19, 2008

Austriamicrosystems has launched the AS1343 high voltage DC/DC boost converter optimised for LCD or OLED display bias from low voltage inputs of single cell battery-powered applications.

The AS1343 delivers 40mA at 24V from two AA cells or 30mA at 12V from a single AA cell and can provide adjustable output voltages in the range of 5.5-42V It operates from a single 0.9-3.6V supply.

The 1MHz fixed switching frequency minimises the PCB footprint by allowing the use of tiny, low profile inductors and capacitors.

This constant frequency switching results in low, predictable output noise that can be filtered.

The AS1343 also offers an automatic power save operation and the micropower design reduces the operating supply current to only 22uA.

It offers a shutdown mode requiring less than 1uA current combined with an output disconnect feature.

In addition, it offers two per cent output voltage accuracy and an available power-ok feature indicates if voltage is within 10 per cent of regulation.

The part is suited for powering a variety of different OLED or LCD displays in hand-held devices or any other application requiring high output voltages.

The AS1343 is available in the compact 3 x 3x 0.8mm TDFN 10-pin package and covers the industrial temperature range of -40C to +85C.
