Prosody X has undergone its first commercial deployment with The Sound of Data - operator of one of the largest European platforms for voice, SMS and mobile data services.

Prosody X, the award-winning, media processing resource card from Aculab has undergone its first commercial deployment with The Sound of Data - operator of one of the largest European platforms for voice, SMS and mobile data services The new platform is designed to handle large volume media/mass calling activities, as well as high end corporate voice services

This is the first industry platform to be based on the Prosody X card, and provides "old school" customers with next generation voice capabilities.

The solution has the capability to process more than 5000 simultaneous calls using TDM (ISDN/SS7) and/or VoIP (SIP) infrastructure.

It benefits from the unrivalled density offered by Prosody X, meaning fewer circuit cards are needed and the cost per channel is driven down.

The Sound of Data has enjoyed an ongoing relationship with Aculab and has been using Aculab's Prosody PCI cards in its solution for a number of years.

The Sound of Data decided to use Prosody X after recognising that the next decade would see a rapid change in the telecommunications market in general and voice service provisioning specifically - and wanted its solution to provide for both current TDM and future IP solutions.

Commenting on the deployment, Jeroen van Velzen, Commercial Director of The Sound of Data said "The Sound of Data believes that next generation voice and speech provisioning will be based on IP".

"As timing of such a migration is very hard, we needed to develop a hybrid solution that is able to service current TDM customers as well as future IP solutions, and both should be able to use the same voice and speech capabilities".

"Using Aculab's Prosody X product suite, we were able to realise our ambitions and we are proud to manage one of the largest next generation voice platforms in Europe, mainly through the efforts of Aculab and PCS".

Chris Gravett, Sales and Marketing Director at Aculab also commented: "We are delighted that Prosody X has been so instrumental to the success of The Sound of Data's voice platform".

"We look forward to continue working with The Sound of Data in the future and offer the ongoing support of our dedicated engineers to help them stay ahead of the competition".
