Digital network access rides on PCI Express
Aculab's new E1/T1 PCIe card is claimed to be the first digital network access product with PCI Express bus compatibility.
Aculab's new E1/T1 PCIe card is claimed to be the first digital network access product with PCI Express bus compatibility.
The product serves the high volume, SME level market for communications solutions requiring connectivity to the PSTN and PLMN environments.
As the computer industry migrates towards the new PCI Express bus and the mature PCIbus fades from the motherboards of desktop and server level computing platforms, the market interest in PCI Express compliant digital connectivity products is high.
Commenting on this new product, Mike Matthews, Head of Product Marketing at Aculab, said: "The E1/T1 PCIe card is a definite choice for companies willing to benefit from the industry's new PCI Express computer bus".
"Compared with PCI technology, the lower cost of the motherboards and significantly higher data throughput have a very positive effect on the final solution cost".
"And the longevity of PCI Express is assured".
The E1/T1 PCIe card complements Aculab's portfolio of digital network access technologies.
The product provides connectivity to one, two or four E1 or T1 PRI trunks and supports a wide range of different national PSTN protocols, with AT and T, ETS300, INS 1500, Q.SIG, T1 robbed bit, DPNSS, MFC R2 CAS and NI2, among many others.
The product leverages Aculab's historical strength in supporting the PSTN signalling systems, for both CAS and CCS methods.
The SS7 signalling protocol is fully supported by the product and the signalling stack is downloadable from Aculab's website under a cost free licence.
The product comes with a set of telecom authorities approvals and is suitable for worldwide deployment.
The E1/T1 PCIe card is a perfect choice for a wide range of SME grade communication solutions, including; prepaid services, protocol conversion, mass calling and televoting platforms, number portability solutions and many others.
Six variants of the product allow a selection of 'fit for purpose' combinations of the amount of TDM trunks and protocols support for every particular application.
Solutions based on the product will therefore benefit from maximum cost efficiency and return on investment.
"The introduction of the new E1/T1 PCIe card from Aculab addresses the market demand for PCI Express compatible products suitable for the worldwide deployment", commented Herman Abel, Product Manager at Aculab.
"Although the SME telephony market is migrating from TDM towards IP, the demand for PRI connectivity technologies continues to be high".
Evaluation trials for the new product will commence in the following few weeks, while the release to general availability and customer shipments is expected to start later on in the year.
