VoIP media-processing platform on PCI Express format is aimed at high-volume SME market

Aculab's Prosody X PCIe, a VoIP media-processing platform with PCI Express bus compatibility, is now available for shipment, following the product announcement in late 2006 As the computer industry migrates towards the new PCI Express bus and the mature PCI bus fades from the motherboards of desktop and server level computing platforms, the market interest in PCI Express compliant media processing platforms is high

Prosody X PCIe targets the high-volume, SME-level VoIP market.

Attractively priced, it delivers the lowest cost per voice channel compared to any competitive product available on the market.

Prosody X PCIe is a continuation of the success of the award winning Prosody X product line, extending it into the SME level VoIP market segment, which is characterised by high volume on one hand, and high price sensitivity on the other.

The product provides connectivity, media processing and call-control feature sets for both VoIP and PSTN environments including: SIP; H.323; secure RTP; DTMF handling; T.30 and T.38 fax; a wide range of TDM protocols and approvals; a full set of voice codecs; and many other features.

Supporting up to 300 simultaneous voice channels, with optional 1, 2 or 4 E1/T1 trunks, the product is a good choice for a wide range of SME grade communication solutions, including: media and signalling gateways; media servers; IVR and ACD; predictive diallers; contact centre platforms; conferencing; push-to-talk; fax services; and many others.

"Prosody X PCIe delivers the promise of cost efficiencies resulting from technology convergence", comments Herman Abel, Product Manager at Aculab.

"Designed with integrated VoIP, TDM, media processing and signalling functions, the product is the preferred choice for the design of next-generation solutions".

Prosody X PCIe is available in eight variants, allowing a selection of 'fit for purpose' combinations of media processing DSPs and TDM trunks for every particular application.

Solutions based on the product will therefore benefit from the maximum cost efficiency and return on investment.

For a limited period, Aculab is offering a Prosody X PCIe promotional package, which includes free product training and professional services consultancy to help early adopters with their solutions development and to speed time to market.
