Verification for IBM's latest logic
Available now from Avant! are production-ready Hercules-II physical verification rule files for design rule checking IBM's 0.13-micron CMOS 8SF foundry logic process technology.
Initial models are targeted for a 0.13-micron CMOS process.
The new methodology provides increased accuracy and shorter turnaround time for developing early Spice models that will allow Fujitsu to obtain enhanced device designs and higher chip yields.
Avant!'s expertise in IP services was combined with its industry leading TSUPREM-4, Medici, DFM WorkBench, Aurora, and Star-Hspice products to create a TCAD-to-ECAD methodology for generating highly accurate and predictive SPICE models for Fujitsu's advanced technologies.

Adaptive Digital Technologies has been selected to develop a high-density turnkey DSP solution for TelcoBridges' TB640 platform.
The reusable methodology provides Fujitsu with a turnkey solution for automating SPICE model extraction in its technology development flow.
The benefit is much shorter cycle times for making these critical models available to design teams.
Availability of early, advanced device models allows designers to quickly predict design results for new processes.
"Supporting our flow development team with Avant!'s IP services has helped enhance our product development plans", said Shigeo Satoh, manager, Process Integration Department, Fujitsu Limited.
"In the short term, the new methodology enables us produce enhanced Spice models for our 0.13-micron process more quickly, decrease the expense of producing test wafers, and shorten our overall design cycle.
In the long term, this technological partnership in TCAD helps lay an excellent foundation to commence development for our future technology nodes".
The TCAD-to-ECAD methodology requires simulating a calibrated 0.13-micron CMOS technology under varying process conditions to obtain electrical characteristics of the resulting device structures.
Both global and binned parameter extraction strategies are then developed to obtain the Star-Hspice Level 49 Models that are later verified for accuracy using benchmark circuit simulation.
"As a result of Avant!'s recent global reorganisation, we are in an excellent position to offer many specialised IP services for our customers", said Gerald C Hsu, chairman, CEO, and president of Avant! Corporation.
"The successful completion of the Fujitsu project is a great example of Avant!'s ability to quickly and successfully unite our worldwide EDA resources in support of customer objectives.
We're pleased to offer this unique TCAD-to-ECAD Silicon Early Access solution to Fujitsu".
