Adaptec stays with Avant! for next generation

Adaptec has selected Avant!'s next-generation, hierarchical-design-planning tool, JupiterXT to complement its existing SinglePass-SoC solution.
JupiterXT, based on Astro technology, is a major new release of Avant!'s SoC hierarchical-design-planning tool.
The increasingly large designs in today's highly competitive SoC market demand a solution that melds flow, integration, quality of results, ease of use and speed.
The new Design Flow Manager of Jupiter XT provides a user-interface control panel to access completely new block placement, pin placement, and data handling algorithms.
JupiterXT maintains 100% compatibility with the SinglePass-SoC solution and the de facto standard for physical design databases, the ultra-deep-submicron (UDSM) Milkyway database.
"We selected JupiterXT because of the value we identify in the new block and pin placement algorithms", said Lee Caswell, vice president and general manager of Adaptec's Storage Solutions Group.

JupiterXT proudly bears the "XT" suffix in the tradition of Star-RCXT by providing a substantial, step function increase in capability and speed.
The new JupiterXT will further enhance our customer's ability to create substantially larger and faster designs, achieve earlier validation of design success, and dramatically increase productivity while reducing time to market.
JupiterXT is available on Linux, Sun Solaris, and HP U/X operating systems.
