Avant! simulator stars in Atmos memory analysis

An Avant! Corporation product story

Atmos has selected Avant!'s Star-SimXT simulation for full-chip analysis and verification of its SoC-RAM embedded memory macros that range in size from 1 to 64Mbit.

1T embedded memory supplier Atmos Corporation has selected Avant!'s Star-SimXT simulation for full-chip analysis and verification of its SoC-RAM embedded memory macros that range in size from 1 to 64Mbit.

Star-SimXT, with its rapid timing and power verification, True-Hspice accuracy, and easy post-layout analyses with full back annotation, enables the high-quality production of customer-specified, compiled memory cells by Atmos.

"Atmos easily installed Avant!'s Star-SimXT into our design flow to enable us to successfully provide the highest-density 1T embedded memory macro cells available today", said Terry Lalonde, vice president of engineering operations of Atmos.

"With its new hierarchical simulation engine, Star-SimXT allows us to accurately probe the performance details of critical blocks and increase our ability to perform exhaustive simulation and corner analyses", stated Lalonde.

"With Star-SimXT, we achieve accuracy for full-chip simulation, allowing us to better meet customer requirements for ultra-deep-submicron (UDSM) technology nodes", added Mark Hileeto, Atmos manager, CAD and Methodology.

"We also use the DSPF flow with Star-SimXT for post-layout verification so there are no surprises from on-chip parasitics", continued Hileeto.

Star-SimXT simulation's unique hierarchical architecture provides virtually unlimited capacity and runtime that is ten times faster than traditional high-capacity circuit simulators for larger circuits.

Its dynamic, hierarchical-partitioning engine handles hundreds of millions of transistors in less than a gigabyte of memory in a matter of hours.

True-Hspice accuracy with foundry-endorsed silicon models is assured for Star-SimXT through use of Star-Hspice device models.

Star-SimXT simulation's Active-Parasitics flow processes hierarchical circuit netlists with flat parasitic back annotation substantially faster than other commercial simulators.

Also, tight integration with tools such as Star-RCXT extraction provides accurate post-layout simulation results.

"We are pleased that Atmos has adopted Star-SimXT for rapid, True-Hspice circuit simulation of its high-density embedded memory macros", said Paul Lo, president of Avant! Corp.

"Star-SimXT is Avant!'s advanced, high-speed circuit simulation engine that addresses the speed, accuracy, and flexibility challenges of USDM design.

Atmos' selection of Star-SimXT continues the widespread acceptance of Avant!'s breakthrough simulation technology".
