BAE Systems runs with Avant! SoC solution

BAE Systems Information and Electronic Warfare Systems (IEWS) has selected Avant!'s Cosmos custom-IC design environment and the SinglePass-SoC solution for its IC design needs.

BAE Systems Information and Electronic Warfare Systems (IEWS) has selected Avant!'s Cosmos custom-IC design environment and the SinglePass-SoC solution for its IC design needs.

"We selected the complete Avant! IC design solution because it provides both custom and ASIC design tools that work on the same physical database, namely Milkyway", said Stew Farnham, manager of IEWS' Engineering Design Environment.

"By using Cosmos to design our rad-hard custom blocks and standard-cell libraries, we will significantly reduce our development schedules.

Working directly on Milkyway saves time and reduces errors by eliminating the translation steps to move an IC design from concept to reality".

According to Farnham, "Cosmos has been easy to learn and use.

Its simulation environment simplifies and speeds design and analysis of complex custom circuits".

He added that the schematic-driven layout design using the CosmosLE" environment is productive because of the advanced design-rule and connectivity knowledge available during interactive placement and routing.
