Aven offers industrial-grade scissors

An Aven Incorporated product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Sep 24, 2009

Stainless-steel blades on the 2-in-1 Combination Scissors from Aven eliminate the need for two-handed tools or power equipment to cut copper-braided wire, nylon or Kevlar fibre and insulated cord.

Two cutting textures handle diverse materials without switching tools.

A notched gripping surface from the tip to the middle of the blade holds items firmly for fine, clean, flush cuts without slipping.

The Combination Scissors can slice through aluminum or copper sheets up to 0.5mm thick or plastic plate and PET packaging up 1mm.

Higher up toward the soft grips are U-style blade notches that tightly hold copper wire or rubber-coated cord up to 1.5mm in diameter.

Aven provides two models of the durable scissors for applications that include model making, electronics and electrical assembly, custom metalwork, fabric or leather trim and manufacturing assembly.

A heavy-duty model has longer blades with higher capacity, as well as larger handles with rubber-like elastomeric grips for comfort.

The 3mm-thick blades can cut coaxial cable, 10mm diameter rope, 2mm aluminum wire, 1.2mm polycarbonate and other difficult materials.

Blades have a hardness rating of HRC 54 (standard model) and HRC 56-60 (heavy duty).
