Film capacitors have high specific
energy
New from AVX, the FD series of medium power film capacitors are available with voltage ratings up to 3kV (5kV on request) and offer a high specific energy level of up to 1500J/litre.
New from AVX, the FD series of medium power film capacitors are available with voltage ratings up to 3kV (5kV on request) and offer a high specific energy level of up to 1500J/litre With an operating temperature from -55 to +85C, the devices deliver a capacitance range of 5 to 150uF with a tolerance of +/-10%
Two new designs are offered in the range.
FDV1 capacitors, available in a wrapped and sealed package, are intended for use mainly in military and industrial markets.
FDBB versions, which come in a cylindrical plastic case, are especially designed for medical applications.
Examples of applications in which these devices can be used are: telemetric lasers (military); flash lamps (industrial); and cardiac defibrillators (medical).
