Thermistors aid handheld temperature
compensation
A new series of surface mount NTC thermistors is specifically designed for temperature compensation and control applications in handheld and portable electronic equipment.
AVX has introduced the NB23 series, an 0402 surface mount NTC (negative temperature coefficient) thermistor, specifically designed for temperature compensation and control applications in handheld and portable electronic equipment The device's small size allows for greater design flexibility, such as placement in a battery pack as a temperature sensor, while providing the same level of accuracy and a better response time than in larger NTC thermistor devices

Tantalum capacitors have thin-film fuses
Unlike conventional devices that incorporate a lead wire fuse, TAW series tantalum capacitors are fully lead-free and RoHS compliant.
The NB23 series of thermistors feature resistance values from 10 to 100kohm, with standard tolerances of 5, 10 and 20%.
Maximum dissipation is 150mW and thermal dissipation factor is 0.8mW/C.
Operating temperature is from -55 to +150C.
The thermistors also feature a nickel barrier termination that provides excellent solderability characteristics for lead-free (high temperature) soldering processes.
The NB23 series is particularly suitable for handset manufacturers as well as other electronic OEMs, and for applications such as mobile phones, hard disk drives, laptop computers and compact disk players.
AVX also offers NTC thermistors in 0603, 0805 and 1206 case sizes and a comprehensive range of leaded thermistor devices. Request a free brochure from AVX ...
