Niobium oxide capacitors outperform aluminium
Today's consumers demand electronic goods that perform to the highest levels, are reliable and cost-effective, says Tomas Zednicek.
High-frequency capacitors cut stray inductance
Medium-power devices are targeted at situations where standard capacitors cannot handle the high-frequency ripple currents experienced.
IDCs take on powerful duties
Connectors handle up to 15A and are rated for use at up to 650V, suiting them for use in applications such as high voltage inverters in the lighting industry.
Says Zednicek: "I am very pleased to have contributed towards these great developments in capacitor technology, especially to niobium oxide, which is the first new capacitor dielectric in the last four decades".
Zednicek, who is based at AVX Lanskroun, Czech Republic, has worked in the capacitor industry for 12 years.
He has promoted niobium oxide technology since it was released in 2002 at CARTS USA.
"In today's consumer market, high-tech is only recognised if it delivers a cost saving solution".
"We achieved this with OxiCap".
"It's a once-in-a-lifetime product, and it brings together excellent technical performance and new levels of safety".
Author of over 50 scientific papers, two were voted as outstanding by delegates at CARTS Europe 2001 in Copenhagen, Denmark and at CARTS 2003 in Stuttgart, Germany.
Zednicek received his PhD in tantalum capacitor technology in 2000 (a research project focused specifically on this technology) from the Technical University of Brno.
He maintains a close relationship with the Czech Research Noise Laboratory for the development of capacitor technologies and represents the Czech Republic on the International Microelectronics and Packaging Society (IMAPS) European Technical Programme Committee.
