Alps Electric has appointed Peter Woodland, Managing Director, UK operations, based in Milton Keynes, England.

Alps Electric has appointed Peter Woodland, Managing Director, UK operations, based in Milton Keynes, England.

Announcing the appointment during a visit to the UK, Alps President Masataka Kataoka said: "Peter shares my own belief that a strong and vibrant manufacturing base is vital for a nation's long term economic well-being and he will work tirelessly to promote world-class manufacturing excellence in the UK".

Woodland steps up from Planning Director and replaces Nobuhiko Komeya in the Managing Director role.

Komeya returns to a director post in Japan.

Directorships at Alps UK based Technology Centre, tasked to identify emerging technologies in electronics in Europe, and at Alps in the Czech Republic, are also assumed by Woodland with immediate effect.

Peter Woodland joined Alps in the UK in 1987.

Previously he spent three years resident in Japan working for a leading commercial law firm before embarking on a series of senior export sales management roles, including six years in Germany with Hitachi.

He is an honours graduate in Japanese from The London School of Oriental and African Studies and has a masters degree in finance from the University of Leicester.
