Compact four-direction switch with centre-push stick and encoder can be operated with a single shaft.

Available now from Alps Electric, the RKJXT series is an extremely compact four-direction switch with centre-push stick and encoder that can be operated with a single shaft.

The surface-mountable components feature a long operating life of up to 50,000 switching cycles or 15,000 rotational cycles, respectively.

They are housed in a compact, low-profile design with external dimensions of only 17.0 x 17.0 x 8.6mm.

The switch body has an octagonal structure for smaller outline dimensions.

With its compact size and the high durability, the new RKJXT series is the ideal solution for automotive applications like mode change, volume or cursor control for audio and car navigation systems.

The switches are rated for voltages of 5V DC and have a current consumption of 10mA with resistance load.

They require an operating force of 40mN.

The actuating travel of the centre-push stick amounts to 0.3mm, its lever operation angle to 9 degrees for each direction.

The maximum initial contact resistance is specified for 1ohm.

On the encoder side, the RKJXT series is remarkable for its resolution of 15 pulses or 30 detents per rotation.

The necessary detent torque amounts to 15mNm.
