SBCs target entry-level applications
Two new fanless 3.5in embedded platforms answer continuing demands for low-power entry-level SBCs.
In addition, adding the backup and instant recovery software ExBoot, the Fastora NAS-104AW provides a fault tolerant storage solution for SMBs and entry-level enterprise storage platforms.
The Fastora NAS-104AW is a high-performance 1U NAS-engine featuring Intel Pentium 4 processors up to 3.4GHz or Intel Celeron processors up to 2.8GHz, up to 4Gbyte of RAM, and four hot-swappable drive trays accommodating 3.5in SATA drives.
It is equipped with dual gigabit Ethernet connectivity for trunking and fail-over management to offer network fault tolerance, which is highly efficient for mass data transmission.

Pentium 4-based SBC has power to burn
The SBC81827 is a standard full-size single board computer powered by a Pentium 4 CPU, with advanced features like optional SCSI, CompactFlash, Gigabit Ethernet and USB ports.
The Fastora NAS-104AW makes effective file sharing across heterogeneous environments simple: environments like Windows, Unix, and Macintosh platforms.
The server also supports TCP/IP, CIFS, NFS, HTTP, FTP and AppleTalk protocols.
The PCI expansion slot can be leveraged for enterprise needs to connect to direct attached storage (DAS) and/or tape devices.
The Fastora NAS-104AW uses Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003 which features simple management and a low TCO (total cost of ownership) to assist data centralising and backup.
It strengthens data protection by providing OS failover, mirroring, VSS (volume shadow copy service) and more.
The VSS makes backup data readily available to clients, even with recovery version options, which ensures that data is being used more flexibly and efficiently.
Axiomtek has specially bundled the Fastora NAS-104AW with a powerful backup utility ExBoot, the backup and instant recovery software.
ExBoot allows outstanding backup capability with the whole system and instant external bootup, solving the difficulties of downtime and allowing the continuous run of applications on the NAS.
"Considering the data growth and different demands of NAS usage for SMB customers, the Fastora R and D team is devoted to developing the best, yet affordable data storage solutions with value-added features on a WSS platform", the Business Development Manager of Axiomtek, Aaron Lung, commented.
"With the ExBoot backup software, enterprise data is double protected.
The Fastora NAS-104AW features high-performance functionalities, but at a much more cost-effective price, and is indeed the perfect data protection engine for data centres and distributed computing environments for SMBs".
"We believe our products are the right fit for any market".
