SBCs target entry-level applications
Two new fanless 3.5in embedded platforms answer continuing demands for low-power entry-level SBCs.
Available with up to 1Gbyte of DDR SODIMM system memory, the board supports DualView CRT and LVDS displays, with optional dual LVDS LCD mode, making it an ideal solution for gaming or display intensive applications.
The SBC also features four USB 2.0 ports, dual 10/100Base-T Fast Ethernet ports, a DMA supported CompactFlash Type-II socket, and AC97 audio for incredible sound.
Easy expansion is available through a Mini PCI Type-III socket, and hard drives and other peripherals are easily added by the SATA-150 and PATA-133 support.
Furthermore, customers have the alternative of the SBC846A3 which incorporates a PCI-104 expansion interface.
Having such a small footprint and compact design, both platforms can be applied widely for varied applications with high performance and extremely low power consumption.
"As a preconfigured and tested computing platform, developers are able to focus on their core capabilities in software development and product design without the burden of designing and prototyping their own platform", said Joseph Chou, Product Manager of Axiomtek's Embedded Computing Division.
"Consequently, the SBC846A1 reduces product development costs and becomes a highly attractive solution".
The SBC846A1 can also be placed in preconfigured embedded enclosures to serve as an all-in-one solution.
These embedded MicroBox enclosures come with 43, 60 or 70W power supplies.
The board has the right features to fit any market, but is specifically designed to fit into harsh environment applications where a rugged design is a must.
