Axiomtek has released its first SBC based on the new Intel Embedded Compact Extended form factor Available in a choice of configurations and options, the SBC84820 offers developers a robust and reliable platform to build on with the added benefit of being able to realise faster times to market for new products

The new platform is available with a choice of low voltage Intel Pentium M and ultra low voltage Intel Celeron M processors with processor speeds up to 1.4 and 1GHz, respectively.

The Intel ECX from factor combines the x86 architecture with CompactFlash storage devices in an antivibration environment.

And the ULV/LV CPU answers demands for less power consumption, minimal thermal output for a fanless solution.

The compact platform is ideal for in-vehicle infotainment applications.

The board is based on the Mobile Intel 915GM and ICH6M chipset, which supports the PCI Express bus architecture, a highly scalable general purpose I/O for the latest industry peripherals.

The SBC84820 built-in Fast Ethernet port in default and offered optional full speed gigabit Ethernet which through Intel 82540QM Ethernet controller.

The Mobile Intel 915GM Express chipset integrates graphics function and supports dual channel LVDS for various embedded applications.

"The SBC84820 continues to strengthen our appeal to developers as they are able to come to one manufacturer for all embedded requirements", said Matthew Lee, Vice President of Axiomtek's Embedded Computing Division.

"Each time we introduce a new product to one of our product lines, we are addressing customer needs".

"This has historically been our commitment to our customers and it will continue to be our commitment in the future".

The tiny ECX platform supports a single 200-pin DDR2 400MHz SODIMM with up to 1Gbyte capacity.

Display features include dual LVDS, DVI, TV-out and CRT for dual contents and different resolutions for advanced applications.

In addition, Axiomtek's SBC84820 supports Serial ATA-150, PCI express expansion, AC97 audio, CompactFlash Type-II with DMA mode, and four USB 2.0 ports for high speed peripherals.
