Axiomtek introduces a high-performance network security platform, the NA-820, which is a 1U rack-mountable form factor with seven front LAN ports designed for the small and medium business market The platform integrates a high performance embedded SBC, the SBC8A820, which supports an Intel Core2 Duo processor with a 800MHz front side bus and features an advanced Intel 945G chipset integrated VGA function and built-in PCIe Gigabit Ethernet interface

With the power of the Intel Core2 Duo processor, this network appliance provides highly efficient performance and can multitask at once without slowing down.

The NA-820 is a suitable network security hardware platform for IDS/IPS, VPN, content filtering, UTM, network management, network security applications and other embedded box solutions.

To prevent network problems when the platform shuts down, the NA-820 supports two groups of LAN by-pass function through WDT and GPIO pin definitions.

With an Intel 82573 LAN chip, the NA-820 supports fail-over, load sharing and load balancing functions for critical network environments.

In addition, the platform supports two high bandwidth DDR2 533/667 DIMM sockets maximum up to 2Gbyte memory.

In order to provide the best network performance and best utilisation, this network security platform has powerful storage interfaces including one 2.5in IDE or SATA HDD and CompactFlash, and one Mini PCI slot with 32bit/33MHz is available for expansion".

"Axiomtek's new network appliance, the NA-820, is an outstanding network security hardware platform with high computing performance" says Philip Wei, Product Manager of Axiomtek's Network Appliance Products department".

"The NA-820 fulfills high computing capability with the peak Intel Core2 Duo processor designed for the SMB (small and medium business) market, and it has many added features to make it an ideal solution for system integrators, software developers, and manufacturers seeking to reduce time to market".

"For system login with monitoring and building control proxy, this network security platform has space for a 2.5in hard drive for software porting by software solution providers.

It also offers an optional enclosure which features management functions, including BIOS redirection to console port, LCM and more.

Additionally, this network appliance accommodates seven Gigabit Ethernet ports in the front panel thru PCIe interface which improves the total bandwidth.

For easy access, the front panel also has one RS-232 DB-9 console port, two USB 2.0 ports, and LED indicators that monitor power and HDD activities.

Moreover, the NA-820 supports mainstream Linux kernel 2.6 and 2.4 embedded operating systems.

This RoHS compliant product will be available around the end of February, 2007.
