One of the UK's fastest growing contract electronics manufacturers has been honoured for its commitment to quality and will now compete for a prestigious national award on the pitch of Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.
Axiom Manufacturing Services, based in South Wales, received a Wales Quality Award for the Manufacturing category of the competition which measures business excellence.
This is the second time that the company has received such an accolade and demonstrates how dedicated the organisation is to achieving the highest standards within the industry.
The company beat some of the top manufacturers in Wales that were competing for the prize with its continuous drive to improve and the huge commitment demonstrated by every member of the workforce.
Shaun Ashmead, Managing Director of Axiom, was delighted to receive the award.
He said: "For any organisation operating in the highly competitive CEM sector quality frameworks and standards are essential".
"The EFQM provides the ultimate framework for how a world-class organisation should operate".
"Using it has helped the company benchmark performance against other best practice organisations and helps demonstrate Axiom's commitment to business excellence".
"Axiom has a long history of using the EFQM excellence model for self-assessment, and with the WQA external assessor feedback report, we are able to highlight our strengths and opportunities for improvement".
"This has turned out to be an extremely powerful tool when used in conjunction with our business planning and continuous improvement programme".
Companies that adopt the EFQM excellence model will develop the organisation and its leaders as it provokes further questions about approaching, deploying, assessing and reviewing each aspect of the business.
Master of Ceremonies at the awards, Vincent Kane, spent nearly 40 years as a journalist with the BBC and dedicated 20 years to the Wales Quality Centre as Chairman.
He said: "These companies represent the very best in Wales".
"They have evaluated their performance and have compared themselves with their counterparts across Europe".
"Each of these organisations has embarked on a clear path of constant improvement and is focused on achieving excellence in everything they do, instilling quality as a way of working that is embedded within the culture".
The Wales Quality Centre is the partner organisation in Wales for the European Foundation for Quality Management, and is the leading expert in Wales at applying the European Excellence Model.
The final will be held during the EFQM Forum, on the 3rd to 5th October 2005, at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff, where business leaders from across Europe will be meeting to discuss the challenges facing them in the light of growing economies across Asia.
