An Axis Electronics product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Sep 25, 2007

Axis Electronics has a new surface mount line including Mydata MY12 and MY9 SMT placement machines and the very latest Utravision automated inspection equipment.

Axis Electronics has invested close to GBP 500,000 as part of a major capital investment programme on a new surface mount line.

Key stages consist of Mydata MY12 and MY9 SMT placement machines and the very latest Utravision automated inspection equipment.

With annual growth averaging over 20% in recent years, and on target this year to continue the trend, Managing Director Phil Inness says: "To successfully manufacture here in the UK we have to aim to be the best and investing in this equipment is helping us reach that ever more challenging target".

"We must excel in every one of the key areas of quality, service, value and flexibility and the new line, is making a big contribution".

"This additional equipment is helping guarantee the quality of our products, and improved placement capability and changeover times means faster response times whilst maintaining competitive pricing".

"And, because the line can handle almost any type of component with ease, we now have much more flexibility to work with the latest component package types for example 01005s".

Matt Turner, Process Engineering Manager, has been tasked with getting the best from the new equipment, and he admits it is all very exciting.

"The new line gives us an advantage in terms of technology and run rates", he enthuses.

"Eliminating potential errors is so important, especially in the smaller volume orders".

"It's going to help us get more products right first time so it's got to be worth the investment".
