Pentium 4 SBC goes from comms to automation
Advantech has developed its first Pentium 4 full-sized SBC, the PCA-6184, which offers a range of features including DDR memory support.
Advantech has developed its first Pentium 4 full-sized single board computer (SBC), the PCA-6184, which offers a range of features including DDR memory support, a 478-pin Pentium 4 socket and an embedded ATI Rage Pro 128 graphics controller, USB and dual Ethernet controllers, to meet the demand for a powerful all-in-one processing solution in industrial automation, image processing and telecommunications applications.
Greater speed and memory bandwidth is achieved through Intel's 845D architecture, which is built with 0.13-micron technology.
The Pentium 4 processor (FSB 400MHz) speed is upwards of 2.4GHz and an auxiliary power connector is available on the board to ensure an adequate power supply.
In addition, the PCA-6184 supports 2Gbyte DDR200/DDR266 SDRAM, providing faster application performance.
Connectivity to Advantech's SNMP-1000 intelligent HTTP/SNMP system manager enables users to remotely manage and monitor the system through a web page via their network connection.
The onboard watchdog timer can be used to monitor software performance.
The ATI Rage Pro 128 4XL controller, coupled with dedicated 32Mbyte VGA memory, offers superior 3D and 2D visual quality and the 4x AGP interface is ideal for demanding graphical applications.
The board has been designed to operate under extreme temperatures ranging from 0 to 60C and flexibility is well catered for with four USB ports, ISA high drive, PCI to ISA bridge and CMOS automatic backup.
