Aldec's tools have been selected as the recommended verification solution at the Shanghai IC Centre (Shanghai ICC) in China.

Aldec's tools have been selected as the recommended verification solution at the Shanghai IC Centre (Shanghai ICC) in China.

"Design tools are a critical element in enabling the mission of the China national IC base", said Wang Ye, vice president of Shanghai ICC.

"Aldec's verification solution was selected from among the major EDA tool vendors because of its performance and ease-of-use".

Supported by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology, Shanghai ICC is the leading organisation among the seven national IC bases.

The IC bases provide Chinese companies with access to leading EDA tools for both front-end and back-end design.

China's design centres have brought the country to an advanced level of electronics design.

A recent joint study by Gartner Dataquest stated that China will soon challenge other Asia-Pacific countries for the number one position in terms of EDA market size.

Most recent data shows that China accounted for almost 1.5% of the worldwide software revenue for EDA, and this is expected to grow at a five-year compound annual growth rate of about 25% in 2006.

"The China National IC Base provides an important incubator for emerging semiconductor design companies in China, and the selection by Shanghai ICC validates Aldec's technology, tools and deep commitment to China's electronics industry", said David Rinehart, Director of Marketing for Aldec.

"Aldec is looking forward to continuing to work with the Chinese electronics industry to meet its needs for the industry's best design tools and technologies".
